A Second Chance

I am an ambitious boy named Kevalkumar Ashokbhai Parekh. I was born on 10th August 1996 in a village named Thaledi which is now included in the city Nadiad and this was the only day on which my mother smiled when I cried. I lived in a nuclear family. My mother name Hetalben Ashokbhai Parekh can be considered as the lungs of my body and my father Ashokbhai Chhotabhai Parekh as my brain and eyes. Whenever I am in a dilemma my father always put his step forward to show me the correct path.

Apart from this, I have a lovely and cute younger sister named Payalben Ashokbhai Parekh which is my heart. I do not believe in self- made success since we need each other’s shoulder to lean on.

I was a perfect son and a brilliant student till the age of 15 years. But as it is said that you cannot stop what is going to happen, I still remember that it was the 14th of June 2013, the darkest day of my life.

Every time I try to erase this from my memories but I regret I cannot do so. Our orientation of school was held on this day as I was promoted to 11th grade as I was ready to enter my secondary high school. Accidently my seat was beside the worst boys of school but I had no idea about it as they had recently changed my school and had to relocate to this new one.

However, I was a little bit of tensed to get together with this kind people. Later, daily conversation had taken a form of friendship. In no time a strong bond was created between us that even the advice of my respected teachers, parents and old friends failed to drag me to the right path. I had become a completely different person staying in the company of them. Now I was no longer a perfect son neither an obedient student which I used to be. Moreover, I started adapting there bad habits like using abusive words, disrespecting elders and squabbling with teachers and many more. The direct impact was observed on my studies. I used to spend most of the time roaming over the streets and disturbing people.

I did not come to know about this until I received my final results. As it was the darkest part of my life. I had just cleared the subjects by the passing marks. Seeing this incident I was shivering from all over my body as well as gradually getting captured by the claws of depression. A time came in my life that I could see my position nowhere as my social life was practically ruined. My image was spoiled due to my deeds.

Secondly, a disease played a major role in awakening me. I was caught by a disease named dengue. My health was getting worst day by day. It was next to impossible to survive because the platelets were decreasing with an enormous rate which was a matter of great concern. But I am thankful to my parents as they did not slept over nights for taking care of me. My mother prayed to god for my better health and my father brought a rare medicine which is only found in few regions of my state. Due to the blessing of my mother and medicine I was able to survive. When I got cured I remembered the incident and was regretting on my decision to fall in company of bad boys. This was a time when I realized the importance of my parents. Later, I decided to make a comeback in my life as god does not give a second chance to everyone.

I am really thankful to my tutor Mr. Mehul Patel as he helped me in every phase of my life. He introduced me to some of the brilliant students of my class. I was under the transformation phase. Now I had left all my bad habits but this was not only the thing to be done. I needed to prove myself in front of the society. It was the year in which our exams were to be taken by our government and not by the school because the grades of 12th decide our future in India. So I started preparing for the board exams really hard. I used to read for 8 hours a day and if did not complete my 8 hours of reading then I used to give myself a punishment which made me to prepare well for exams. I quite comfortably appeared in the exams. Now I was just waiting for my results. As it is said hard work always pays and never gets in vain, I received 97 percentile on exams.

My credit of success goes to all my near and dear ones as they were with me in my harsh phase of my life which helped me to bring back smile on my parent’s face which was evaporated before. This was my real success rather than getting good grades in board examination. I am glad to god for giving me second chance.
