Men and Depression Free Essay Example

All across the world, 84 men take their own life, 75% of all suicides are male, 25% of men live with a mental illness, men are less likely to get help, and we wonder why. We wonder why these statistics are so high, but all we have to do is look around us. Feminists especially, are constantly acting like the victims, when they aren’t always. Men are constantly having to follow the “Man Rules”. Being told to suck it up because they’re male.

One of the biggest reasons men get pushed aside is because of feminists.

Although feminists are fighting for women’s rights they have a tendency to go over the top. They are constantly trying to push they’re point across without thinking of the negative consequences that will come out of it. By constantly pushing they’re point across they are getting the sympathy of society on their side. By this I mean that they get priority over men and are being treated differently; for example, being sentenced to less jail time.

This is highly unfair. Feminist are constantly asking for equality when really all they want is power. They want power over men and this is putting multiple men into a slump, having been accused of rape and yet the females get no jail sentence for false accusations. Can you just imagine what effect that would have on the male? Imagine if you were in that same situation, you wouldn’t like it. Reputation ruined, having to prove yourself otherwise, feeling intimidated, it’s a terrible feeling and no man should have to feel like that.

Man Rules. Man rules are a common situation that leads to depression in men. They are constantly compared to this fictional image. Don’t get me wrong, women have this problem too, but men seemed to be pushed aside more than women. It’s almost as if you don’t fit the “criteria” then you won’t live the best life possible, and in most cases, won’t find love. Women, and men, are constantly shaming each other. For example you have to fit the mould; you have to be strong, good looking, not show emotion. This puts a lot of stress on men of all ages and they’re just not getting the support they need.

Men are seen to have to hide their emotions. They are constantly hiding all their emotions because if they don’t, they are seen to be week. This puts a lot of stress on them and makes them feel worthless at times. If a women was in the same position they would have gotten heaps of support from friends/family etc.

Men have become more effected by mental illnesses then women and yet females are getting more support. Men deserve just as much support as women do, no matter who you are, you deserve help. Families are losing their, sons, dads, brothers due to reas
