I have never really done any public speeches before and I don’t even really know a lot about speech. I have ever done a debate in front a set of audience instead, which have the same kind of environment like the first public speaking I did in class. After filling out the PRPSA scale, I found out that I got a score of 113. It indicates that I have moderate anxiety. Through the scale, I manage to identify several areas that I feel need improvement. Those areas are doing poorer speech when anxious, Have sleeping problems the night before the speech and lastly, feeling anxious while waiting to give my speech.

For every problem, there must have a solution into it and the same goes for the problems I need improvement on.

For doing a poorer speech when I’m anxious, I might try to remove my anxiety away by getting used to do speeches and also be more prepared before delivering the speech. For sleeping problems before the speech, I might try to count sheep and make sure that I didn’t eat any snacks after dinner. Finally, feeling anxious while waiting to give my speech. This issue is almost the same with the first one and this can be solved either by delivering the speech first or reviewing my preparations before the real speech.

The solutions above for each issue are important because if I didn’t know how to deal with these issues, I might not be able to give a good speech to my audience. Thus, giving a bad impression and a wrong message to the audience. The present behavior that I think is not effective is not to be able to manage my time effectively. Not being able to manage my time properly is the same as not being able to do nice preparations for the speech.
