This successful company was founded in 1883 by Marcus Samuel who was the antiques seller. Since 1883 the company has passed many important land marks.
Marcus Samuel started a seashell import export business. When he passed away his two sons Marcus Junior and Samuel began to expand the business .
In 1880 they began exporting oil. This period they had to face transportation problems but in 1892 they were able to over come it and their ship murex became the first oil tanker to sail through the Suez Canal.
Their company was rename by Samuel and Marcus in 1897 as the shell transport and trading. The setup their first refinery but that company was destroyed by government because of World War 2. In 1907 shell transport and trading company decided to merge with Royal Duch.
As a result, the Royal Dutch Group was formed. After that Royal Dutch expanded quickly. The next step was open operation Europe and many part of Asia and also the company explored in Russia, Romona, Venezuela and Mexico. Moreover, In both world wars Royal Dutch Group played an imporant role as the main suppliers to the Brtish Army because petrol had a grate demand.
In 1947 they made the first commercially viable offshore well and withing 8 years company had 300 wells. Not only that the years 2012, 2016 and 2017 were very important for the Royal Dutch Company.
Pearl GTL (gas-to-liquids) in Quatar the world’s largest source of GTL products was completed by the company in 2012. Morover, In 2016, production started at shell’s stone field, the world’s deepest oill and gas project. And in 2017, Prelude, the world’s biggest floating liquefied nathural gas facility.
