How much Time do you Spend doing Homework?

On average 6th graders do 15 minutes of homework per class.

7th and 8th have 20 minutes, 9th and 10th have 25 minutes and last is 11th and 12th graders which have 30 minutes. Did you know that 45% of students in grades 3 to 12 spend more than an hour a night. To break down the facts even further race plays a big part on how much time you spend on homework, White: 6.8 hours, Hispanic: 6.4 hours, Black: 6.3 hours, Asian: 10.3 hours of homework a week. Math and English Language Arts are the classes that have the most homework.

62% of students prefer online homework and 45% of students like doing paper homework, and in my opinion I would rather do paper homework than online homework. What do you prefer?

Why Students don’t Like Homework and how It’s not Effective

Did you know that students that don’t help around the house stress more than people that do help around the house like chores, homework is also stressful on our guardians and teachers. Nearly 60% of students think that homework is not useful and 17% of students think that homework helps with school work and is useful to use.

Another fact is the students that have more than 60 minutes of homework do not have a increase of percentage in tests. 75% of teachers report homework as something that will help judge character. And the last thing is that 28% of the students are often stressed. What’s your opinion did homework help on your tests or did it stress you out?

Why Students Should Have Homework

Based on the facts that I have given you do you think we should still have homework? Well maybe this will change your mind. It improves your memory and maybe helping you on your tests, like for an example: it helped me with CMAS testing. It helps you apply new skills learned in homework assignments, in my case math homework helped me learn algebraic math problems. Homework gives you and me an opportunity to work by ourselves and problem solve wich is useful in our everyday lives. It lets us review on what we did in school that day and helps prepare us for new things. An example is by me learning how to do algebraic expressions and In English Language Arts it takes me practice to learn certain vocabulary.
