Discussion #4: The Catacomb of PriscillaWatch the following Khan Academy video (rt 11:03) on the Catacomb of Priscilla, one of the best preserved catacombs in the city of Rome.https://www.khanacademy.org/humanities/medieval-world/early-christian-art/early-christian-architecture/v/catacomb-priscilla?modal=11) In the video, according to art historians, there are three possible theories of why Christianity exists for some two centuries and yet there is no evidence for Christian art. In your first discussion paragraph outline and explain the ideas behind these three theories. 2) In your second and third discussion paragraphs, give some specific examples of the iconography that appears in the Catacomb of Priscilla in Rome and reflect upon the following: Why do you think that this iconography was chosen to be depicted in this space? Did this iconography have a function? Were the artists creating a conscious message? If so, what might that message have been? Feel free to do further research, but you must cite your sources.
