Education is the most powerful weapon which we can use to change the world. Education refers to mental and moral training. It clears off the darkness of ignorance from our mental horizon and opens wide to our vision. The prosperity of a country mainly depends on the education of her population. Education is a right that both males and females deserve equally. Men and women are created as the two sides of a coin. One is incomplete without the other. So education cannot be the only possession of a single class or gender.

Rather it should be imparted equally to both male and female to ensure the all-round development of the nation.

Almost half of the population of Bangladesh is female. So it is sure that the country cannot develop without the progress of half of its population. And this progress is not possible without education. Girl Education was never considered necessary in the previous time. But over a period of time people have realized the importance of a girl’s education.

It is now considered as the awakening of girls in the modern era. Women are now competing with men in all the spheres of life. But still, there are people who oppose girl’s education because they believe that a girl’s sphere is at home and also they think that it is a wastage of money to spend on a girl’s education. This thought is wrong as girl education can bring an uprising in the culture.

There are a number of factors in our society that restrict a girl from attending school.

.The most important among them is poverty. The poor families cannot meet their basic demands and they don’t want to spend on their girls’ education. In our society, girls are often victims of violence and harassment. Many times, they don’t attend school due to such insecurities. Another important cause is child marriage. Especially in rural areas, girls are forced to get married at an early age and begin their conjugal life. As a result, they have to drop out of school. Besides, there are religious and social superstitions that bound people with old traditions. However, the most important cause of women lagging behind in education is the negative attitude and ill mentality of people towards women. They think that household works should be the primary focus of a girl’s life rather than education for which girls are neglected in society.
